Learning

Educational programming at our Congregation offers opportunities for congregants to engage in a journey of learning and spiritual growth. Members of all ages are challenged to think, question, and contribute creatively to our common journey.

At Schaarai Zedek’s Julia M. and Samuel L. Flom Religious School, we provide a Jewish education in a warm and supportive environment. Through a variety of programs, projects, and media, we prepare more than 400 students to become committed members of the Jewish community. Our program includes Sunday morning classes for toddlers through eighth-grade. Students preparing for Bar or Bat Mitzvah receive additional tutoring, with Confirmation taking place in the ninth grade.

The Amy Gail Buchman Preschool is open to the entire community. We provide the very best in early childhood education for children ages 12 months through Pre-Kindergarten (age 5). Our warm and nurturing staff provides a program rich in Reform Jewish culture, tradition and values.

Schaarai Zedek offers a rich and diverse Adult Education program. Our courses – which reflect the needs and interests of our congregants — range from Introduction to Judaism to Hebrew for Adult Beginners to ritual practice, current political and social issues, and book discussions. Our teaching staff includes our Rabbis and Cantor, as well as visiting scholars and outstanding teachers from the community.
