  • Since June 2013, Cantor Cannizzaro has brought her love of Judaism to Congregation Schaarai Zedek. Whether she is singing from the bimah, playing guitar, jamming with the Achshav Youth Band, teaching music to Religious School students, or leading the children’s choir, she uses her voice to help people find their personal connection to Judaism. Her love of teaching is exemplified in her role as Director of the CSZ B’nai Mitzvah program and in the pride that she shows when her students read from the Torah at High Holy Day services.
  • Cantor Cannizzaro has demonstrated her strong commitment to Schaarai Zedek Sisterhood and its members. She has installed Sisterhood officers, led interactive Sisterhood Passover seders and celebrations, and created beautiful Sisterhood Shabbat services. She has inspired members with her D’var Torah, led cooking demonstrations where she shared her favorite recipes, and regularly has sung prayers for Sisterhood lunches and dinners. In addition to supporting and participating in Sisterhood events and activities, Cantor Cannizzaro is a devoted friend and mentor to Sisterhood members.
  • At the event, Sisterhood Co-Presidents, Dana Gruman and Aly Zamore; Chair Lynne Merriam; and Rabbi Joel Simon and Rabbi Michael Weiss will welcome attendees. Parri Sontag will emcee the program of tributes from Koleinu Choir members and special musical tributes by David Glickman, Allison Singer, and Beth Schlossberg. A highlight of the program will occur when the Sisterhood and the rabbis award Cantor Cannizzaro her second Silver Lifeline. WRJ’s Lifeline program involves donating $1,800 to an endowment that funds YES Fund programs, including scholarships for rabbinical and cantorial students at Union of Reform Judaism’s campuses in the USA, London, Buenos Aires, and Berlin; support for URJ’s youth and camp programs and Religious Action Center’s advocacy for Jewish values and social justice; and funds for WRJ’s programs around the world and in Israel.
  • Your tax-deductible contribution to WRJ is appreciated. No funds raised go to Schaarai Zedek Sisterhood.
