Sisterhood Cancer Thrivers Network Presentation

Has someone in your extended family had cancer? Do you have a friend with cancer, or maybe you have been diagnosed yourself? Sisterhood invites women and men of all ages to learn about hereditary cancer risk and thriving in the face of cancer risk, diagnosis, and beyond.
9:00–9:30 am: Coffee and Bagels
9:30–11:15 am: Expert Presentations, Discussion, and Q & A
- Rabbi Joel Simon, with a Jewish perspective on medical intervention, support, and resources in our community.
- Laura V. Barton, MA, MS, CGC, Genetic Counselor at Moffitt Cancer Center, with an overview of cancer genetics, testing, and cancer risk management for Ashkenazi Jews and the population at large, including the impact of family history.
- Andrea Katz, Cancer and Bone Marrow Transplant Survivor and Thriver, Author of Chemo Katelynn: Humorous Perspectives on Life Before Cancer and After diagnosis, with her message of how humor and a positive attitude can influence the management and journey of a cancer diagnosis.
- Representatives from FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (Tammy Li) and Cancer Thrivers Network for Jewish Women (Michelle Passon) will speak about their journeys and the benefits provided by their organizations for the Tampa Jewish community.
