Do Alternatives to the Synagogue Shed Light on a Newly Emerging American Jewish Landscape?

The American Jewish community is now home to start-up organizations with names like Sixth&I, Romenu-Jewish Life Elevated, Ikar, Mishkan Chicago (inspired down-to-earth Judaism), Lab/Shul, The Kavana Cooperative, and The Kitchen. All are members of the also new Jewish Emergent Network. These were created by Jews looking for an alternative to the synagogue. What do these groups offer? How do they differ from the synagogue? Are they the start of a revolutionary makeover or just a phase? Will the synagogue survive as we know it? We will be joined by Katie Vogel, founder of Havayah, a Jewish community in Cincinnati to share her experience and perspectives.
