To better help us stay connected with our Schaarai Zedek family, we will use Zoom, a web-based video and tele-conferencing platform. If you are new to Zoom, here are some instructions and tips to help you get started.
Download and install the Zoom app before getting started.
Click on “Sign up, it’s free” in the top right corner OR go to the “Resources” tab at the upper right can click on “Download Zoom Client”
Follow the instructions provided
Note: If you click on a link to join a Zoom meeting or webinar and do not already have Zoom installed, you will be prompted to download the app before joining.
Joining a Zoom Call
A few minutes before your meeting or webinar is scheduled to begin, click on the link that was provided. The video below shows some helpful tips for joining and configuring your audio and video.
Tips for Participating with Zoom
Test your video and audio before your meeting at zoom.us/test
Mute / Unmute: Mute and unmute your microphone. The audio controls (click the ^ arrow next to Mute / Unmute) allows you to change the microphone and speaker that Zoom is currently using on your computer, leave computer audio, and access the full audio settings. Please mute your microphone when you are not speaking during a meeting, which is especially important when there are multiple participants. You can unmute your microphone when you are called on or when making a comment.
Start Video / Stop Video: This option turns your camera on or off. This allows you to see others, but they cannot see you.
Chat: Access the chat window to chat with other participants. Within the chat window, you will have options for chatting with everyone or selecting a specific participant.
Leave Meeting: When the meeting ends or when you need to leave, click “Leave Meeting” or simply close the Zoom app.
